Just wanted to take this moment and remind everyone that Chuck will be showing on NBC tomorrow. Now that the Olympics are over Chuck is back and I have a feeling the next few episodes are going to be really good. Tomorrow’s episode is called Chuck Versus the Fake Name. For those of you who have forgotten where we left off, here’s a preview of tomorrow’s episode.
Chuck promises to cook dinner for Ellie, Devon and Hannah, but must first complete a mission that involves him impersonating the world’s most dangerous assassin. Meanwhile, Sarah tries to keep her relationship with Shaw strictly professional.
I know it’s not much detail, but it’s still enough for me to watch. And just in case you missed it, be sure to check out the latest promo for the 2nd half of the season.
The folks over at How It Should Have Ended have created an animated alternate ending to JJ Abrams hit reboot of Star Trek. I have to admit there’s a great dose of nerdy/Star Trek humor that made me laugh. I enjoyed it, how about you guys?
New Iron Man 2 footage has hit the web and I’ve got a link to share with you guys. The site is French and there are English subtitles so everything is understandable. Check out the new clip here.
This biggest takeaway is that it looks like Tony will have a confrontation with Whiplash in Monaco but after the scene in which Stark’s race car is destroyed. Don’t believe it? Check it out and let me know what you think!
If you’ve ever played the Peggle games you know they are as addictive as can be. In fact when I need to kill time I play alot of Peggle on my iPhone. Well it seems that PopCap Games has made Peggle Night free for now. Or at least sorta free. To get the free download you have to sign up for their e-mail newsletter. Not a bad price to pay for a fun game. And it’s not like most people nowadays don’t have a few e-mail addresses they use primarily for e-mail junk. For the low low price of FREE its definitely worth downloading the game.
Well folks, it seems as though we’ve gotten a few new tidbits of information about the upcoming 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie. While promoting Alice in Wonderland Johnny Depp confirmed that neither Orlando Bloom nor Keira Knightley would be appearing in the 4th movie of the blockbuster franchise. Personally, I don’t think the lack of Bloom is a big deal however I will miss Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swan. Also the lack of supporting characters gives me a little concern the movie might be too Captain Jack Sparrow centered. Luckily Johnny Depp thinks otherwise.
“We’re coming at it from a different angle at this point, Rob Marshall and [a] totally new take, it’s a new story. I don’t think we’d ever throw too much Jack Sparrow in there. There will be a little bit of everybody.
Looks like the ensemble cast will get a chance to get some screen time. In my opinion that’s a good thing. I enjoy the Jack Sparrow character but in large doses it’s entirely possible he could get to be a little too over the top. Luckily Depp will be supported by a few more actors in the film. Geoffrey Rush has apparently signed on to repirse his role as Captain Barbossa, while Penelope Cruz will be playing a character new to the series.
But the big news for me is that Ian McShane is rumored to have signed on to the 4th Pirates movie. He will be playing a pirate, specifically Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard! Anyone who has read the blog knows of my love of the late NBC show Kings and a good deal of that came from McShane’s portrayal of King Silas. I bet you all are shocked I didn’t reference Deadwood there! McShane is an incredible actor and will surely bring a scary as all hell pirate to the big screen.
A quick update for all the Chuck fans out there. I was checking my twitter and saw some re-tweets that came originally from JoshSchwartz76 with a YouTube link inside. Whether this is the real Josh Schwartz I don’t know, because the account hadn’t been verified. However, the video is really good that he linked too. The video is below so take a look.
I have to admit I find the spoof of the Superman opening credits quite funny, especially since Brandon Routh, Superman himself, is one of the big guest stars this season. No big plot points were given away, but in typical Chuck fashion it looks like fun, especially the return of Jeffster! To those shippers that might be freaking out over the current direction the shows star-crossed leads are going, I’m sure you enjoyed the last few seconds of this trailer. Personally I choose to enjoy the show. I’m watching Chuck because its fun not because I desperately want Chuck and Sarah to live happily ever after. The romance angle is a nice sub-plot but that’s about it in my mind. Shippers, feel free to flame away in the comments, but that’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it!
The more trailers I see for this movie, the more I want to see it. The way I understand it, this red band trailer is the last one that will be released before the movie comes out.
Bear in mind kiddies, that this is a red band trailer so be prepared for cursing, nudity, exorbitant amounts of violence and other dirty jokes. Basically a good time for anyone old enough to handle it!
Captain America director Joe Johnston has hinted that the lead role of Steve Rogers was set to be cast soon for the Cap movie. There are a few rumors floating around the net regarding who might portray the Star-spangled Avenger. However, one thing to keep in mind is that Johnston has said that he planned on announcing the role by March 1. Regardless of our speculation we’ll see in just a couple week. We’ll talk about a couple of the names floating around on the web.
1. Chris Pine – Thats right, Pine might be moving on from being Captain Kirk to Captain America. What a sweet deal for Pine getting to be in three mega-franchises if this is the case. Pine is also set to star in the next Tom Clancy movie based on Jack Ryan, he’ll be filling Harrison Ford’s shoes. In addition to that Pine has done a pretty damn good job playing the role of Captain Kirk in the rebooted Star Trek. As for whether he’s the best choice, I’m undecided personally.
I think he’s got the acting chops to pull it off, however I’ve never seen him play a character like Steve Rogers. Captain Kirk was a cocky a-hole and Captain America is the opposite. Cap needs to start out being unsure of himself and growing into being self-assured. Thats a different character than we’ve seen Pine play so far. He’s definitely got the look of Steve Rogers once he’s taken the Super Soldier formula, but he’s probably just a couple inches shorter than the ideal Cap. However, alot of that can be circumvented by creative filming angles.
2. Ryan McPartlin – If you aren’t familiar with the name let me give you another way to reference him, just think of the word awesome. McPartlin plays the role of Devin “Captain Awesome” Woodcomb on the show Chuck. It amuses me we’ve got another ‘Captain’ up for the role of Captain America. To be honest, I’ve only seen McPartlin in Chuck and it’s probably not the best way to evaluate how he would play Steve Rogers. It has been confirmed that he has read for the role of Steve Rogers though. I’m an interview with Moviehole McPartlin was quoted as saying:
“The one thing I can’t stand are these actors that are twittering about auditioning for Captain America. It’s really tacky. With that said, it is in the casting process and like many other actors, I read for it, so we’ll wait and see what happens. Regardless, I’m pretty psyched to be Captain Awesome for the time being.”
There are some rumors that McPartlin has made a strong case for taking the lead role. Additionally, McPartlin was on the red carpet for the premiere of Joe Johnston’s move The Wolfman, despite not being in the movie. Whats the reason this conspiracy theory is taking off? Both Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto attended the premiere of JJ Abrams’ produced Cloverfield and were not in the movie. This was right around the same time they were cast in Star Trek also which was directed by Abrams. It’s more than likely a coincidence, but it sure is fun to speculate. He definitely has the look down for Steve Rogers and probably the right height. But in my opinion he’d have to bulk up a good deal to be Captain America. McPartlin and pretty tall and not built like Cap is portrayed, but enough time in the weight room could probably fix that.
3. Other Names – Johnston also said that they had narrowed down the selection process to 5-6 individuals and through scattered reports, these names include Chad Michael Murray, and possibly Jensen Ackles. I’m familiar with Ackles from Dark Angel and Smallville and those were both roles I enjoyed. Also, he’s the lead in the CW’s Supernatural. But with Supernatural getting renewed for a 6th season I’d put low odds on Ackles taking the mantle of Captain America.
One thing to keep in mind is that nothing has been set in stone at this point. Everything is speculation at this point and until we find out for sure who lands this role there’s bound to be a ton more rumors. As soon as anything is made definite I’ll be sure to pass along what I’ve heard. At this point, I’m just excited they are making a Cap movie.
Some of you may have noticed yesterday that WordPress was down for a while. Seems it was down for about 110 minutes, but now things seem to be working properly. Kudos to the WordPress folks for getting us back online so quickly.
My main concern was whether this WordPress failure would result in a data loss. This is mostly because my backup of the site is about 1 months old. The lesson learned here, is to backup whenever possible so that if there is a catastrophic data loss you can rebuild. I know I’m planning on keeping to a much stricter backup schedule now.
