I’m sorry because I know all the Smallville fans are beside themselves with the news, but at some point you just have to ask yourself if another season is just too much. I mean even with stretching the artistic liscense they have passed Clark being a young man coming into his own and leapt straight into the fact that Tom Welling is in his 30s and can barely pull off the young and hopeful look any more. I say let the show go in peace.
Before season 9 I would have agreed with you. However, this season has given the show a new lease on life. Honestly, they should probably rename it as just about nothing takes place in Smallville anymore.
The show has morphed from an angsty teen drama to a fairly solid superhero show with some angst tossed in. Personally I say, give it a 10th season and use that to put Clark in the red and blue and let him fly. Smallville has become an AU of existing Superman mythos so let continue to the point he becomes Superman. Ending the series with Superman would be awesome.
