To continue our True Blood coverage today we’re bringing you the synopsis that HBO put out for the episode.  If you want to remain blissfully spoiler free we’ll put the synopsis after the jump.  To those of you brave enough jump ahead to check it out and get a couple theories from us on what might happen.

Here’s the synopsis provided via HBO for Beyond Here Lies Nothin’ the 2nd Season Finale of True Blood.

The mayhem in Bon Temps reaches a fever pitch as Maryann prepares for her ultimate bestial sacrifice, conscripting Sookie to be Maid of Honor at the bloody nuptials. Meanwhile, Sophie-Anne warns Eric to keep the lid on Bill’s inquisitiveness; Jason leads Andy into the heroic abyss; and Hoyt has a hard time swallowing Maxine’s endless stream of insults. Deliberating on what may be his final move to save Sookie and the town, Sam is forced to put his trust, and his life, in a most unlikely ally.

What’s this mean for us the fan?  Lokos like Eric is going to continue making has play to manipluate Bill and in turn get Sookie for himself.  Also, it looks like at the end of this all of the Mary-Ann arc will be resolved.  I’m sure our reader Cougar will be happy to see that end.  Finally, I’m betting that Sam and Bill put aside their differences and try to save the town.  We’ll see what happens though.  At least we only have to wait a few more days!

HBO has released a bunch of pictures from the finale.  Below we’ve included the photo gallery for the images from the season finale.  Nothing real earth shattering here, but enough to maybe make a couple guesses as to what might happen.  Stay tuned for later today as we’ll talk more about the finale.

Seems like things could get interesting now that Bill has gone to meet a vampire Queen.  Especially interesting since it looks like they are laying out near a ‘sunny’ poolside.  I’m sure its simulated, but it makes a cool effect.  Anyway, the pictures are below.

Anyway, I encourage you all to check out the top 100 list and chime in on their debate.  I’m pleased with where the modern BSG ended up, but personally I’d have probably put it a little higher, but of course I’m biased.

True Blood has broken its viewer rating records again.  Prior to last Sunday’s episode, S2x10 ‘New World in My View’, the series had enjoyed record viewer numbers at a rise of roughly 100,000 per week consistently for a few weeks.  This time around the number has jumped by roughly 800,000.  Last week the record was 4.5 million viewers, now that has jumped to a record 5.33 million viewers!

Congrats to everyone involved in True Blood.  That’s an amazing jump and hopefully it keeps up.  I fully admit I was a latecomer to True Blood, having only started watching after buying the Blu-ray boxset.  But I’ve been hooked since the first episode.  You know it must be good if it makes a cheap skate like me pay for HBO!

So in the past two days I’ve got up on 5 episodes worth of True Blood.  My being behind is why there was quite the lack of True Blood coverage the past month or so.  After getting caught up, all I can say is wow, I wish I had never fallen behind to begin with.  We’ll have a better True Blood post this week, but until then here’s the promo for next week’s episode to tide you over!

The couple met during auditions for the show and have been dating ever since. The two went public with their relationship in February after months of speculation.  Moyer, 39, said he and Paquin, 27, didn’t want to take “anything away from the show.”

Also, True Blood was recognized and given the award for Outstanding New Program.  Looks like the TCA knows what they’re talking about when it comes to rewarding quality TV shows.  I can’t really say the same about the Emmys.  There it seems more like a popularity contest on what the new ‘trendy’ thing is.

For a little background on the TCA awards we’ve included the following.

The TCA Awards are unlike most other award ceremonies. Whereas the Emmy’s (for example) require submissions to be considered the TCA Awards don’t. TV camera’s aren’t allowed into the event and there’s no red carpet spectacle. The winners are chosen according to what critics actually like, so in essence the TCA Awards are a ‘popularity’ contest between critics that takes place largely behind closed doors.

Whilst the Emmy’s have stringent submission guidelines and those submissions that are nominated are often determined by people who may never have watched the show, the TCA Awards have no such limitation. On one hand you could argue this makes the TCA Awards more relevant than the Emmy’s since show’s that might otherwise be ignored or snubbed will have a greater chance of being included in the mix.

On the other hand, unlike more prestigious award events the TCA Awards suffer from their own decision to withhold coverage and, as a result, the potential value of the awards is largely lost on anyone except those who are already actively interested in the industry. Let’s face it, the average person doesn’t have a clue what a TCA Award is.

As a lot of you probably know there were a ton of TV shows that had panels at the San Diego Comic Con.  A lot of the cast was there including True Blood creator Alan Ball.  One of the best things is they presented a trailer with details on the remainder of the season.  Before we get to that though, we’ll cover some of the panel highlights.

In the second half of the season the character of Maryanne finally reveals herself to be the horned monster that attacked Sookie earlier in the season.  There’s a glimpse of this in the trailer, and it looks pretty cool.  Also, it looks like there’s going to be one hell of a showdown between the vampires of the Fellowship of the Sun Church.  Where will Jason stand in all this, he’s starting to look fairly conflicted about the whole subject.  You’d think he would be considering his only sister is involved with a vampire.

To those familiar with the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, it was announced that 3 more books will be written with the first due out in May 2010.  This is important since this series is the source material of which True Blood is based on.  If you’re familiar with the books you know that a love triangle developes between Bill, Sookie and Eric.  Ball was asked if this would carry over to the show, and responsed with a simple “Yes.”  That’s all that was stated on the subject.

Finally it was announced that ‘actual’ Tru Blood would be made and sold starting September 10th.  In all seriousness it’s a blood red colored orange soda packaged in the same type bottles as shown on the show.  HBO is taking preorders now.
